oil without canvas by resonantsky

All I could think when I saw oil without canvas by ~resonantsky was that it looked like a crocheted flame...it doesn't get any hotter than that!

Rosy Outlook by DeirdreReynolds

Rosy Outlook by DeirdreReynolds

~dlr4553 brings us a rare treat; a feminine Incendia piece! Rosy Outlook looks like a futuristic rose garden humming with floating sprinklers on a sweetly blushing summer morning.

Alternative Destination by Shortgreenpigg

Alternative Destination by Shortgreenpigg

~Shortgreenpigg has long been one of the more innovative Apophysis artists in the fractal community. Alternative Destination shows off his skills with composition and detail and really draws you into the piece.

OVERLOADED RAINBOW by Jellaboom

OVERLOADED RAINBOW by Jellaboom

The fractal manipulation OVERLOADED RAINBOW by *Jellaboom puts two different types of fractals together with great success. You can literally almost "taste the rainbow" (though instead of skittles I think it might have a metallic tang).

Segmental Harmony by silverb

Segmental Harmony by silverb

I've been a fan of ~silverb forever, and though Segmental Harmony doesn't follow his usual pattern of mythological titles, it does show off his considerable skill. The suggester says, "You know how you can get gold flecks in little bottles of water from souvenir shops? This fractal reminds me of those." A perfectly fractured stained-glass window with a fantastic asymmetrical offset and glittering late-sunset colors, the minute detail will blow you away.

Nebula by hiramf

Nebula by hiramf

How freakin' cool is Nebula by =hiramf?! I mean, look at the wonderful detail and structure. Add a fantastic red atmosphere and a fractal spaceship and WOW!

Mid-morning Daydream by 12GO

Mid-morning Daydream by 12GO

The work of *12GO will have you floating off in a Mid-morning Daydream. The suggester says, "This is an outstanding, well planned out composition." Lose yourself in the perfect textures and the scene outside that looks almost more photo than fractal. Incredible.

Constructed Phoenix by nightmares06

Constructed Phoenix by nightmares06

The phoenix is a classic creature/concept to explore in art, and has been done many ways many times, but none quite so mechanical or modern as Constructed Phoenix by *nightmares06. I'm in awe of the reflections in the metal "feathers" and the way the detail draws you in to the center where the phoenix is being born.

Bronze Battlements 1 by MarkJayBee

Bronze Battlements 1 by MarkJayBee

The first thing I thought of when I saw Bronze Battlements 1 by ~MarkJayBee was soaring over Angrathar the Wrathgate in World of Warcraft. This fractal looms out of the mist like an ancient, forgotten citadel; full of forbidding, spiky detail. Our suggester says, "This is really great, a gorgeous fractal landscape/architecture, and a very nice way to show the new possibilities the newest 3d fractal software gives us."

Renaissance by kdietrich

Renaissance by kdietrich

I'm in awe of Renaissance by ~kdietrich; the title and colors were perfectly chosen, the classic spiral shape lovingly textured, and the "burnt" edges bring it all together. It has the feel of something long treasured that was lost and forgotten with time, only to be brought out and unrolled and loved again. I hope you love it too!

Ventanales by Juniae

Ventanales by Juniae

*Juniae brings us another architectural vision, another world-that-isn't-but-might-one-day-be. Ventanales shines forth, not only in color but in scope and composition. Here is hope for a better tomorrow.

Celestial by aerphis

Celestial by aerphis

Though I attempt to feature the more recent works in the fractal gallery, sometimes I have to reach back in time to the artists that influenced me as I was learning to fractal. ~aerphis was someone whose work I really enjoyed and I miss seeing her around. Celestial shows off her abilities with Apophysis; thousands of articulate lines culminate in a brilliant center shape that draws you right in.

Mathematic jellyfishes by Harukaze74

Jellyfish are an oft-explored topic for fractal artists, but something about ~Harukaze74's Mathematic jellyfishes delighted me more than others I've seen. Perfect smoothness, fantastic focus, subdued colors and rich bioluminescence make these jellies darn near perfect.

untitled fractals: 12 by moonskulling

untitled fractals: 12 by moonskulling

Of untitled fractals: 12 by ~tragic-saturn the suggester says, "Such an appealing color scheme! I love the composition, too, and the shapes are unique!" I love the lighting and how it appears to be made of ripped flower petals, myself.

Desert Rose by AmorinaAshton

Desert Rose by AmorinaAshton

I've never seen a fractal flower like *AmorinaAshton's Desert Rose. Incredibly smooth texture and dramatic lighting and coloring really make this piece shine.

Oriental Illusions by AnnaKirsten

Oriental Illusions by AnnaKirsten

=AnnaKirsten is known for her Ultra Fractal landscapes, and Oriental Illusions will show you why. Gorgeous atmosphere, beautiful colors, fractal objects that look nearly real and detail that will draw your imagination as well as your eye are all hallmarks of her work. This is the kind of lovely work the fractal manipulation category was created for!

Nascence by BrainSplatter

Nascence by BrainSplatter

Of Nascence, our suggesters says, "The texture and lighting are just gorgeous, especially on a closer look!" *BrainSplatter really knows how to put on the shine, and I adore those tiny bubbles!

August's Sunflower by phoenix75

I adore the striped texture of August's Sunflower by ~phoenix75, and the fiery flower center really explodes off the screen.

cathedral by jost1

cathedral by jost1

The style "splits-elliptical" has made quite a popular appearance in the fractal gallery of late. However, none of them look quite like cathedral by ~jost1; the soaring perspective, the ghostly textures and the lightplay conspire to bring this piece to life.

? by charcoaledsoul

~charcoaledsoul may not have known what to call ?, but I call it awesome! Fantastic abstract composition coupled with intriguing variegated lines leave no question in my mind that this is worth featuring.

Opioid by Platinus

Opioid by Platinus

`Platinus is dear to the heart of the fractal community, and art like Opioid is only one of the many reasons why. Incredible colors, slick shapes and intriguing details make you feel like you're swirling in warm soda pop. Let it float you away!

Back to Flowers by LaxmiJayaraj

Back to Flowers by LaxmiJayaraj

Back to Flowers by =LuxJai is full of fantastic detail! Our suggester likes the artist's texture work and I adore her color work and intricate shapes. Fractal flowers are impossible to resist!

A strong Fractal by FractAlchemist

A strong Fractal by FractAlchemist

What weirdly wonderful shapes we find in A strong Fractal by ~FractAlchemist! I love the unusual color combination and the subtle details.

BLUE MUMS by live2b

BLUE MUMS by live2b

*live2b brings us more gorgeous fractal flowers! BLUE MUMS are lacy and feminine and yet have sporty stripes and bold golden edges. I could stare at these all day!

Lost Civilization by denise-g

Lost Civilization by denise-g

Of her image Lost Civilization, ~denise-g says "It is dark, it is smudge, there is no beauty in it." I couldn't disagree more! There is an alien beauty in the dark, writhing shapes and the industrial textures. I especially love the lightplay; it is as if one has walked into an abandoned space station and only the emergency lights are left on. One thing I do agree with, "...it needed to be done."

Amber by MeddlerInc

Amber by MeddlerInc

Our suggester says, "It's really breathtaking how ~MeddlerInc succeeds to create a wonderful Amber aspect and texture on this fractal. It has a real flow which really give us the feeling to want to see more !"
(Featured by NatalieKelsey, suggested by SaTaNiA)

Torture Machine by carlx

Torture Machine by carlx

~carlx uses Incendia in a way we've never seen, to make works that seem part fractal and part bas relief. Torture Machine is a great example of this; a steampunk-like piece that has grungy textures, antique colors and even bits of what might be Lego! Don't miss the rest of his unusual gallery-- both the suggester and I had a hard time choosing just one!

May by pinkal09

May by pinkal09

A little May/September romance from *pinkal09! Sometimes I have to feature a piece not for it's technicality or "edginess" but because it's unabashedly pretty. This is one of those times. A pearlescent rainbow palette and sweet heart shapes make this a delight!
